Your first render
A friendly first-5-minutes walkthrough: create a project, open the editor, add an image (CAD export, sketch, photo, or Frame), write a prompt or let Smart Suggest, pick a model, Generate, then refine with masks, references, or Design Mode.
Your first render takes about five minutes: create a project, bring in an image, prompt it, and press Generate.
When to use
- You just signed up and want a strong result on your first try.
- You want to learn the core loop — add an image, prompt, Generate, refine — before diving into the advanced tools.
Steps
- Create a project. On the Projects page, click New Project, give it a name in the Create New Project dialog, and click Create Project.
- Open the editor. The project opens onto the infinite canvas — your workspace.
- Add your first image. Bring in something to work from:
- Drag in a file — a CAD export (Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp or ArchiCAD), a sketch, or a photo. It becomes a layer.
- Draw a sketch in the app.
- Start from a Frame — an empty frame you can generate straight into from a text prompt alone.
- Write a prompt — or don’t. Type what you want in the prompt bar. Or leave it empty and let Smart Suggest read your selected image and write one for you.
- Pick a model. Choose a generation model from the Model picker (Seedream, FLUX.2, Nano Banana, and others). If you’re unsure, the recommended model is a fine starting point.
- Press Generate. Your result appears as a new layer on the canvas, placed next to your source.
- Refine it. Keep designing from the result:
- Mask a region to change just one area.
- Add a reference image to steer the look.
- Open Design Mode to build a prompt step by step.
How it works
- With an image selected, INTERSTITIAL generates from that image (an edit of what you have). With an empty Frame and a text prompt, it generates from scratch.
- Leaving the prompt empty hands the work to Smart Suggest: it fills the prompt bar with a draft you can read and tweak, then you press Generate again to render it.
- Each generation lands as its own layer, so your original stays untouched and you can compare or branch.
- Generating spends credits — the in-app pricing screen is authoritative on cost. See Plans & Credits.
Tips
- Leave the prompt empty on your first try — Smart Suggest often writes a stronger prompt than a cold start.
- One change at a time. Render, look, then refine — small steps beat one giant prompt.
- A clean input renders cleaner. A tidy CAD export or a clear photo gives the AI more to work with.
- On desktop, open the ? Help menu in the editor for the guided Getting Started tutorial.
