Guided tutorials

How to launch INTERSTITIAL's built-in interactive tutorials from the ? Help menu, what each one covers, and how to exit. Guided tutorials run inside the editor on desktop, walk you through real actions step by step, and can be replayed any time.

Guided tutorials are short, interactive walkthroughs that run right inside the editor — they set up a scene, highlight the buttons to click, and guide you through a real task step by step.

When to use

  • You’re new to INTERSTITIAL and want a hands-on tour instead of reading docs.
  • You want to learn a specific workflow — annotations, references, Design Mode, or pipelines — by doing it.
  • You’ve used a feature before and want a quick refresher. Finished tutorials can be replayed.

Start a tutorial

  1. Open a project — tutorials run on the editor canvas, so you need a project open first. If none is open, you’ll be prompted to open one.
  2. Click the ? Help button — the Help button with the round ? icon, in the top-left corner of the canvas.
  3. Open the Tutorials submenu — hover Tutorials to see the full list, each with a one-line description.
  4. Pick a tutorial — click one to launch it. A tutorial you’ve finished before shows a Replay chip.
  5. Choose a language — the first card lets you pick English or Deutsch. After that the guided steps begin.

The tutorials

  • Getting Started — tour the editor and render your first image.
  • Edit Image with Annotations — use sticky notes, cutouts, and Design Mode to direct an edit.
  • Place Reference Objects — add furniture from a reference into your scene.
  • Design Mode — Guided Picker — walk through Design Mode’s step-by-step prompt builder on a CAD image.
  • Design Mode — Preset Tour — tour Design Mode’s preset shortcuts on an existing render.
  • Render Facade Reference and Masking — render with a reference image, then mask & merge to clean up the result.
  • TPW Pipelines — chain images through paperclips so a TPW renders one image using an upstream image as a reference.

Exit a tutorial

  • Press Esc at any time to leave. If a dialog is open, Esc closes just that dialog first — press it again on the canvas to exit the tutorial.
  • Use the Skip button on the tutorial panel.
  • Leaving early does not mark the tutorial complete, so it won’t show the Replay chip until you finish it end to end.

How it works

  • Desktop only — the Help button is hidden on mobile, so tutorials launch from a desktop browser.
  • One at a time — you can’t start a second tutorial while another is running. Finish or exit the current one first.
  • It drives the canvas for you — the tutorial may add a demo image, sticky notes, or cutouts, and it steers clicks so you stay on the guided path. When a tutorial seeds demo content, it does so in its own scratch scene, so your existing work isn’t touched.
  • It marks what you’ve finished — completed tutorials get a Replay label so you can run them again whenever you want.

Tips

  • Start with Getting Started if it’s your first time — it covers the editor tour and a first render before the more specialized walkthroughs.
  • Follow the highlighted step — clicks outside the guided flow are gently blocked, so if nothing happens, look for the glowing target.
  • Refreshing the page ends the tutorial — relaunch it from the Help menu to run it again from the top.
