Crop an image
Trim a layer non-destructively with aspect-ratio presets — and focus generation on just the part you care about.
Crop a layer to trim it down — without losing the original — and to point generation at a specific area.
When to use
- You want to reframe an image, or crop before generating so the AI works on just one region.
Steps
- Select a layer.
- Open the Crop tool — the crop button in the layer’s floating action row. The toolbar opens with a Crop ⇄ Extend toggle; keep it on Crop to trim inward. (To add space outward instead, see Extend an image.)
- Drag the crop box, or pick an aspect-ratio preset: Free, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, 9:16, 3:2, 2:3.
- Click Done to apply or Cancel to back out. (If the layer already has a saved crop, a Reset button also appears, to restore the original.)
How it works
- Cropping is non-destructive — Reset brings back the full original at any time.
- The cropped result is what generation uses, so cropping is a simple way to tell the AI which part of the image to work on.
Tips
- Crop to your target aspect ratio before generating for a cleaner composition.
