What is INTER\STITIAL? An AI-native design platform for architecture and design — not just a visualization tool. You bring your design inputs (sketches, CAD exports, photos, or a prompt) and generate and edit images, videos and 3D worlds with AI on an infinite canvas. GenAI is the fuel, Design Mode the engine, and the canvas the chassis. See What is INTERSTITIAL?.

Who is it for? Everyone shaping the built environment — architects, interior and landscape designers, urban planners, real-estate developers, product designers, and students. It’s simple enough for a first-timer and capable enough for pros.

Do I need to install anything? No — it runs in the browser. A Revit connector is available for pushing CAD scenes onto the canvas; see Import from CAD.

Generating

Which model should I use? Nano Banana Pro is the recommended default for architectural renders. See Generation & Models for the full list and what each is best at.

Do I have to write the prompt myself? No. Leave the prompt empty and press Generate, and Smart Suggest writes one from your image. See Smart Suggest. For a guided, step-by-step build, use Design Mode.

How do I use a reference image? Attach a reference to steer the style, materials or mood — from your computer, a canvas image, or the built-in Are.na browser. See Reference images & Are.na.

Can I make a video or a 3D world? Yes — turn an image into a video with camera-move presets, or generate an explorable 3D world from an image or prompt.

How do I get a higher-resolution image? Upscale a render with Freepik Magnific once you’re happy with it.

Editing

How do I edit only part of an image? Use Mask & inpaint: paint the region you want to change and generate — the rest of the image is preserved.

Can I adjust colours without re-generating? Yes — add non-destructive adjustment layers (temperature, brightness, contrast, curves and more). They also bake into the next render.

Can I mark up an image and have the AI act on it? Yes — add notes, arrows, shapes or cutouts, then generate. See Edit with annotations.

Can I chain generations into a pipeline? Yes — connect objects and use prompt widgets and routers to build a repeatable, multi-step flow. See Wire a multi-step pipeline.

Organizing & sharing

Is my work saved automatically? Yes — everything autosaves continuously; there is no Save button. See Projects & Workspaces.

How do I reuse images across projects? Store them in the Asset Library and drop them into any project.

Can I publish my work? Yes — submit a visualisation to the public gallery.

How do I send a project to someone else? From Projects, hover the card and click the share icon. You can generate a link that lets someone copy, view or edit the project, or share it directly with members of your Studio. See Share a project.

Can two people work in the same project at once? Yes — up to 5 people can be in a project at the same time, with live cursors and presence avatars. See Work together live.

What’s the difference between a copy link and an edit link? A copy link gives the recipient their own independent duplicate; a view or edit link brings them into your live project. Copy links never expire; view and edit links last 30 days. See Share a project.

What is a Studio? A shared team account with a common credit pool, a shared library, and direct project sharing between members. See Studios & teams.

What happens to my credits when I join a Studio? Your remaining personal credits move into the Studio’s shared pool and your personal subscription is cancelled. You’re shown the amount and asked to confirm first. Your projects are not affected. See Studios & teams.

Plans & account

How much does a generation cost? It depends on the model and settings, and is shown live on the Generate button. Pricing is dynamic — see Plans & Credits and How credits work.

Is there a free tier? Yes — the Blueprint tier is free and uses generation counts with cooldowns instead of a credit balance. See Plans & Credits.

Does it work on iPad or mobile? It works on desktop and on tablets / iPads (a big screen helps). Phones are supported with limits (fewer layers per workspace, lower-resolution rendering) to save memory. See Account & settings.

How do I get help while working? On desktop, open the ? Help menu for guided tutorials and the shortcuts reference. You can also ask the in-app Design Mode chat a “how do I…” question. The Help menu and tutorials are desktop-only.
