Smart Suggest

Press Render with an empty prompt and INTERSTITIAL analyzes your image, annotations, and references to write the prompt for you.

Smart Suggest writes the prompt for you. Select an image, leave the prompt bar empty, and press Render — INTERSTITIAL reads your image, any annotations on it, and any references you’ve attached, then proposes a prompt for you to review before it generates.

When to use

  • You’re new and not sure how to phrase a prompt.
  • You have a base image but no words yet for what you want.
  • You’ve marked up an image with annotations or attached a reference and want those folded into the prompt automatically.

Let INTERSTITIAL write the prompt

  1. Select an image on the canvas.
  2. Leave the prompt empty on the prompt bar.
  3. Press Render.
  4. A short analysis screen appears while INTERSTITIAL studies the image.
  5. It fills the prompt bar with a suggested prompt and prompts you to review and click Render again. Read it, edit it if you like, then Render a second time to generate.

If you’d rather write your own prompt, just type — any text in the prompt bar tells INTERSTITIAL to skip the suggestion and generate directly.

Read the context chips

Small green context chips sit on the prompt bar and show what INTERSTITIAL detected in real time. They tell you what will feed the next render:

  • Image type — for example CAD, Sketch, Photo, Rendering, AI Image, or a blank Frame. Drawings add a subtype such as Elevation, Floor Plan, Section, Perspective, or Site Plan (e.g. CAD Elevation).
  • Annotations — for example 2 annotations, counting the marks overlapping the image that get baked into the render.
  • References — for example 1 reference, counting the reference images you’ve attached.

The chips only appear once there’s something to show, so an empty prompt bar with a full set of chips is a good sign that Smart Suggest has enough context to work with.

How background analysis works

To make suggestions feel instant, Smart Suggest quietly analyzes an image the moment you select it — before you ever press Render — and caches the result. When you then Render with an empty prompt, the answer is often ready immediately.

You can turn this on or off in the prompt bar’s settings popover, under Smart Suggest (“Pre-analyze images for instant prompt suggestions”). It’s on by default. With it off, analysis still runs — it just waits until you press Render, so the first suggestion takes a little longer.

Background analysis looks at the plain image only. When you add annotations or references, INTERSTITIAL analyzes those at Render time, since it can’t guess your intent for a markup until you ask.

Tips

  • Treat the suggestion as a first draft. It’s meant to be edited — tweak a word or two before your second Render.
  • A suggestion you don’t love? Pressing Render again with the same image returns the same suggestion. To get a fresh one, open the wand (Design Mode) and click Regenerate (↻), or just edit the prompt by hand.
  • The chips are your checklist. If a reference or annotation you added isn’t showing as a chip, it won’t influence the render yet.
