July 2026 update
5 min read
In July INTER\STITIAL moved into the tools architects already have open. From Rhino, ARCHICAD or Revit, one command now sends the view on your screen straight to the canvas. No export, no screenshot. Last month we laid the groundwork for people working together; this month they actually can. And we wrote the documentation the product had been missing.
July in numbers
- 3 CAD plugins live. Rhino 8, ARCHICAD 29, and Revit 2025 and 2026.
- 44 help pages, written from scratch. Public at interstitial-ai.com/docs, and inside the editor.
- 19 AI models in production. 8 image, 6 video, 3 world, 2 upscalers.
- 5 people on one canvas at once. Live cursors, live edits, a role each.

Straight out of Rhino, ARCHICAD and Revit. Three plugins went live this month. The Rhino one installs from Rhino’s own Package Manager and runs on Windows and macOS. ARCHICAD 29 gets a native add-on for Windows, downloaded from our site. Revit now covers 2025 and 2026 in a single installer. All three work the same way: you sign in to INTER\STITIAL in a panel inside the application, and one command sends the view you are looking at to the canvas as a layer.
Each plugin also sends what the view is made of, not just how it looks. So in INTER\STITIAL you can click a wall or a window in the image and select it, instead of tracing around it by hand. From Revit you can select by family type too: one click takes every window, or every column of one type.
Working on one canvas, together. Five people can now be in the same project at the same time. You see everyone’s cursor, and an outline in their color around whatever they have selected. You can share a project by link, as a copy, a read-only view, or an invitation to edit. You can also share it straight with people in your studio, and change anyone’s role whenever you want.
That took a rewrite underneath. A project used to live in one database record that held every layer and every widget. It put a ceiling on how large a project could grow, and if two people saved at the same moment, one of them lost their work. Now every element is its own record. Projects convert themselves the first time you open them, and big ones open faster than they used to.
A help centre. We wrote 44 pages on what everything in the app does, published on the web at interstitial-ai.com/docs and in a panel inside the editor. Each page is written against the code rather than from memory, so it describes what the app does today. Select something on the canvas and the panel opens the page for it, then points at the button it is talking about.
Models and video. We added Seedream 5.0 Pro, Wan 2.7, Runway Gen-4.5, Gemini Omni, Marble 1.1 for 3D worlds, and Topaz Gigapixel as a second upscaler. We took Seedream 4 and 4.5 out of the library, since 5.0 Pro beats both. The video models now give you their full settings: resolution, aspect ratio, reference images and audio. You can chain clips, so each one picks up from the last frame of the one before. And a finished video is now stored safely before we charge for it.
Publish to the gallery. A wizard in the sidebar walks a finished render, single or before and after, into our public gallery. Approved images earn free Nano Banana Pro generations, and a stronger image earns more.
On the road
Bloque, Paris. The Munich studio turned their working models of a Paris apartment renovation into finished imagery, and let us publish it as our first client case study.
ArchitekturWerkstatt Vallentin. Freehand sketches of Quartier der Generationen, an intergenerational neighborhood on the Rems, rendered for the IBA ‘27 exhibition.
Tongji University, Shanghai. The workshop we mentioned in June finished, and we published what the students in TUM’s Digital Futures course made there.
Learned
Building in Europe is harder. We think it is worth it. One feature did not ship. Location Placement sets your 3D model into its real surroundings, using Google’s photorealistic 3D tiles, with the sun where it will be on the day you pick.
Google no longer offers those tiles to companies with a European billing address. Germany’s Federal Cartel Office had objected to the contracts behind Google Maps Platform, which forbade customers from combining Google’s maps with anyone else’s. Those terms locked developers in and made it hard for a rival map service to get off the ground. Google agreed to drop them across Europe in 2025, and withdrew the 3D tiles here at the same time.
We think that was the right call, and it stays the right call now that it costs us something. A fair market is one where the biggest supplier cannot tie its customers’ hands, and we want to be held to that standard as much as we want Google held to it.
We are licensing the same tiles through Cesium instead. It costs us more. Location Placement is coming.
Next
- SketchUp. The fourth plugin.
- Location Placement. The same feature, on tiles we can actually license.
- Pipelines. Wire up a workflow once, save it, and hand it to someone else with the slots left empty to fill in.
- 3D assets. Turn a handful of images into a textured model you can export.
- An agent that operates the app. We are testing a chat on the canvas that reads the help pages and can see what you are about to render. Next it does the work itself.
